Arsenal keen on Lille’s Eden Hazard

Posted on 23 August 2011 by in headline

Arsenal are considering a £26 million move for Lille’s playmaker Eden Hazard. Hazard is a 20-year-old Belgium international, and Arsenal think he can help replace the loss of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri.

Hazard won Ligue 1 player of the year last season and reports indicate that Arsenal have been monitoring him closely for a while. Although French champions Lille say they are not interested in selling their star man.

“He is very happy here, he understands our project and wants to stay for at least another year.”

Despite his age, Hazard has already won 20 caps for his country and has scored 23 goals for his club.

Arsenal need to bolster their squad after a poor start to the season, coming away with just 1 point from the opening two fixtures of the season.

The reports on Eden Hazard come after Arsenal’s other target Juan Mata is said to have attended a medical at Chelsea.
